It has been really busy the past couple of weeks. Barton University has hosted several sessions of Clinical Skills Labs, where every nurse and most support people at Barton demonstrate their skills. In between those sessions, Barton University has hosted classes in Pediatric Assessment and common Pediatric Illnesses. There has been a Certified Emergency Nurse class, which is actually a review for the CEN exam. We also held a class in Advanced Fetal Monitoring for OB nurses.
There are some other courses coming up and we want to make sure that everyone knows that these classes are open not just to Barton Employees, but healthcare providers from other communities and even the community at large. Classes in Basic Life Support, which include CPR training and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) are offered several times each month. The certification can be used for Lifeguard jobs at local pools, beaches or may come in handy at your own backyard summer barbecue.
Barton University is looking to be involved with the South Lake Tahoe community. If you think of classes that you’d like to see, but aren’t currently offered locally, let us know. We may be able to coordinate finding space, instructors, time and other factors to help you get the training that you or your organization needs.
